Import ArtSong 6 MIDI into Fruity Loops Studio
|

|
Fire up Fruity and do a File > Import.
|
| |

|
| |
|
2
|
You’ll see the ‘Import Dialog’, leave it selected to the default
(import all tracks, start new project & create new channel per
track). Check to complete.
|
| |

|

You will now see all your tracks, each in it’s own Channel with
the MIDI data display in a Piano Roll window. These channels will
belong to the same Fruity ‘pattern’. Dbl-click on the Paino Roll
window to bring up the editor… here you can move note position,
even quantize the info (but why defeat the purpse of our AS composition).

These tracks all now belong to the same Channel Group.

The MIDI Out generator takes care of the GM sounds.

You can change the GM instrument to play around with different
sounds quickly.

In the Project Browser you will see all the cool MIDI information
AS stores in it’s tracks. You can open any of the windows and draw
your time curves… sweet!!

At this point we want to have VSTi’s play our tracks so what I
recommend is starting in a new ‘Pattern’ (this can be Pattern 2
if you like).

Now, time for a little fruity workout. Your tracks will still be
shown in the new pattern, but with the MIDI Out as it’s player.
We want to insert new VST Channels to play our tracks. So, create
6 new Channels (Channel > Add one). Now, keep in mind to select
& name the appropriate VSTi’s. Once you’ve create your 6 select
all these new Channels (not the original channels) by cntl+drag
on the green blip to the right of the Channel name. Then put these
in their own Group (Channels > Group selected). I called mine

Now,back to our original imported tracks. Open a track in the Piano
Roll view, select the entire track and Copy.

Click on the Piano Roll selector and a list of all your Channels
will display. Select the corresponding new VSTi Channel.

And paste in the notes.

Or you can do it the quick way. In the Project Browser => drag
a VSTi preset onto one of the tracks and your GM/MIDI Out player
is now replaced by this VST preset!! Again…sweet.
